First, a bit of background on Airtable.
Founded in 2013 by Howie Liu, they have raised a total of $350m, including the most recent Series D Round of $185m (September 2020).
Airtable is driven by a bottom-up growth strategy with an incredibly robust suite of freemium tools and various paid tiers that enable individuals and teams to automate workflows, easily spin up databases for hundreds of use cases, and seamlessly build light weight applications & integrations.

The Design Team
Led by Chad Thornton, who joined in May 2020 following time at Airbnb, Uber, Medium*, and Dropbox*.

Out of the current 22-person team, 13 joined in September 2020 or later, so they are charting a serious growth path under the vision of Chad.
To date, we see 1 internal promotion over the past year, which was Joel’s progression from Product Designer to Design Manager in February 2021.
There are some extremely interesting hires on this team and folks that came from more senior-level roles and joined Airtable to work on this specific set of challenges, notably:
